Compassion is a skill that anyone can learn and practice. There are many ways to develop and strengthen your capacity for compassion, including workshops, classes, therapy, and types of meditation. These techniques are for everyone, not just spiritual seekers. Next time you're in the midst of a difficult situation, you can start practicing by simply asking yourself, "What would I say to a good friend in the same situation?
