How to teach self-compassion to your kids? Start with practicing it yourself! Practicing self-compassion as a parent has many other benefits. Self-compassionate parents are more likely to be attentive to their kids and aware of their kids' emotions. They also experience less parenting stress, which helps them to be authoritative with their kids (instead of authoritarian or overly lax), which then often leads to better behavior in their kids. Self-compassion can serve as a buffer that protects you against the natural stress of parenting.
