Hester Digs Chelsea's Flower Pavilion
There are always lots of new plants and unusual plants to enjoy inside the Aladdin’s Cave that is the Floral Pavilion at the Chelsea Flower Show.
Inside the Floral Pavilion, the plant fans rule, and everyone is sure to find something that fits their particular plant passion. Alpines, exotics, carnivorous, roses, clematis and much more. The David Austin display is always magnificent, with a ruined castle theme, packed with their quality roses. Even after several days in a hot tent, the smell was wonderful and the roses still looked their best. Even the tea table still looked tempting!
In the middle of the Floral Pavilion you can usually find an entire garden, complete with trees. This is created by the venerable Hillier nursery, and you can ask for advice from the team there as well as spotting new varieties for your wish list.
The other specialist that is a must-see in the Floral Pavilion is the clematis king, Raymond Evison. Not only has he won 28 Gold Medals at Chelsea, but the display of flowers is unique, creative and different every year. This year’s offering involved sculptural waves of metal panels to perfectly show off the wonderful clematis at their best. See for yourself if you think they deserved their 15th consecutive Gold Medal!
