GAOS new show - Cabaret
The Geneva Amateur Operatic Society launches its new show - Cabaret!
It is New Year’s Eve 1931 in Germany where the Nazis are growing stronger. Christopher Isherwood (a.k.a. Cliff Bradshaw) arrives in Berlin to write the Great-Novel-That-Will-Make-Him-Rich-and-Famous, but he doesn’t seem to be able to get beyond the first paragraph.
In the seedy Kit Kat Klub he meets the crazy young English singer Sally Bowles ― and his life is turned upside when she moves in with him. Their carefree idyll is soon destroyed by a city beset with decadence, despair and discrimination. Overseeing the action is the Master of Ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub whose irreverent songs punctuate the show providing a political commentary on what is happening to the Fatherland. But is this not the material for a good book?
The show contains several well-known numbers including amongst others "Money" and "Life is a Cabaret".
Tickets: CHF 30, 40 and 45 CHF (seats numbered)
Shows start this Friday at the Casino Theatre, 42 rue de Carouge, 1205 Geneva.
