Editor of Tribune de Genève slams toll plan
The Geneva Transport minister, Luc Barthassat, has raised eyebrows with a plan to charge all drivers coming into the canton a franc. The money raised would be used to fund infrastructure projects.
But many are saying the idea is unworkable and unfair – as Geneva residents would also have to pay every time they re-entered the canton.
Pierre Ruetschi, editor of the Tribune de Genève, is highly critical of the plan – he thinks the proposal will only act as further proof that Geneva considers itself apart from the rest of Switzerland - as he told Mark Butcher.
