Dig It! Begonias (29 April 2019)

Dig It! // Gardening & Green Spaces// WRS// General // April 29, 2019

With lots of lovely summer flowering plants in the garden centres, it can be tempting to go crazy and plant them out right now, but traditional gardening wisdom says to wait until the Ice Saints Days (May 11, 12 and 13) have passed by and then get them in the ground. Veggie plants like tomatoes, peppers, aubergines as well as geraniums, begonias and impatiens are all frost-sensitive and will benefit from protection until the middle of May. The new begonia "Top Hat" from Syngenta will be available all over Europe from this spring, and will look great in a container or in the ground. Hear about why it's different and how to keep it happy in your garden this spring
