Anzère - the year round family destination in the heart of the Valais

Mid Morning Mix// The Breakfast Show // Family// Snow// Explore Switzerland// WRS// Sport// Travel // Jan. 14, 2020

We love Anzère in the summer and in the winter!

The convenience of having everything within walking distance makes for an easy trip. The many activities available for kids and adults and the pedestrianised square in the centre of town make it the perfect place for families. For those who love to ski, there are 58km of pistes and for those that are just learning the discovery areas are FREE, including the magic carpet!

Anzère in Winter Anzère - the year round family destination in the heart of the Valais

WRS were delighted to be invited to broadcast live from Anzère on a gloriously sunny winter's day! Here Damian Intermitte from Anzère Tourism welcomes us to Anzère. We talk about the region and the options for accomodation and some of the features that make it great for families, including affordability!

Lucien Morard - Ski Patroller, Telé-Anzère - explains his typical day. He knows where every single ski pole should be across the entire resort! Lucien is also responsible for the bisses irrigation channels. He's noticed spike in visitors now that these bisses appear on the CHF 100.- note

Robert is a WRS listener who won a pair of Liberté Passes last summer. We find out how he used them and what he got up to in Anzère with his wife and son. Did he jump onto the BigAirBag®?

Bertrand Dubuis - Operations Director at Tele-Anzère, explains the possibilities for groups, whether school groups or coming up to Anzère for a trip with work! Starting from 10 people, there are some benefits!

Mark Fox from Ecole Suisse de Ski (ESS) and Simon Smith from Gycerine Sport give us some tips for the slopes, but also explain some of the snow sport alternatives to skiing and snowboarding!

The BigAirBag® is a fun and unique activity to Anzère. Don't miss it! Steven Hager tells us about the Family Fun Park and the free(!) activities you can enjoy there. So far, the oldest person that's tried the BigAirBag® is 77 years old, so there's no excuse. This activity is definitely for kids and big kids!

Laura Blanc runs Crazy Corner in Anzère, together with her husband Mathieu. They're there for all your ski hire needs. Not only skis though! There are lots of other activities in Anzère to keep all the ski and sports shops busy throughout the year. Check out the e-mountain biking in summer!

If you want to plan your trip to tie in with gastronomy, sports or even romantic events, Justine Luçon & Dessi Petrova from Anzère Tourisme take us through some highlights on the calendar, such as Festi’Neige, Family Sledging, Valentine’s day at Les Rousses or the Rally du Gô.

Christophe Rey from the Pas de Maimbré restaurant (altitude of 2,362 metres) has welcomed us into his restaurant for the day. Let's talk food with a view!

Pedro da Silva Lavrincha, masseur at Anzère Spa & Wellness Centre tells us about the treatments available, the facilities that are free with the Liberty Pass (and therefore any overnight stay in Anzère) and just what makes this mountain spa so special.

Alain Perrin is a 'Rattracker', or 'Snow Groomer'. He explains how he prepares the different trails in Anzère – the village ski piste, the cross-country piste and the walking and snow-shoeing paths – often working at night and early in the morning to make sure they are ready for Anzère’s guests.

As it's nearly lunchtime, Horst Kulhanek, from Délices de Chez Nous & Damian Indermitte from Anzère Tourism, join us to talk about local produce; cheese and dried meats - a traditional Valaisan plate! It's all perfectly washed down with a glass of Fendant.
