A good day to swim the length of Lake Geneva? The JENBOJets think so
Emily, Natasha, Jo & Bee make up the JENBOJets, a UK-based swimming team and part of the Serpentine Swimming Club. With Octavia as their chief support they'll be spending Wednesday 7th September and a fair part of Thursday 8th swimming the full length of Lake Geneva.
They expect the 69km swim, from Villeneuve to Geneva, to take 24-30 hours in total. As they're swimming it in a relay format, they'll be in the support boat alongside for the entire time that they're not in the water, until they all arrive together at Bains de Paquis, Geneva, some time on Thursday morning / early afternoon, depending on conditions on the lake.
They're doing the swim raise money for 2 important charities, Lifeguard Hellas, who assist refugees in the water near the island of Lesvos, Greece. More information can be found on Emily's justgiving.org page, where you can also donate. Natasha is fundraising for Peace Direct, who support peace-building around the world.
Emily tells WRS that they decided to swim Lake Geneva as a more extreme alternative to the English Channel and because they wanted a new challenge.
You can also track the JENBOJet's progress today and tomorrow through their twitter page with regular updates and photos of their jouney and see exactly where they are as they check-in on findmespot.com.
Wishing you all the luck, ladies! Keep up those good spirits!
Update: Jo is the first in the water at 9am. Emily up next at 10am
