Pampered patients jet in for deluxe health care
Medical tourism is often taken to mean patients hopping across the world to get cheaper treatment. Switzerland, however, is a pioneer of de luxe medical tourism: attracting rich foreigners for 5 star care. The Swiss Business Network and Swiss Tourism recently launched “Swiss Health” for just this reason: to tap the international market for sick people with cash to spare. WRS’s Conor Lennon spoke to Karin Frick, the director of Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute which has released a study on medical tourism.
