Berkeley, California: Merchandizing "Obamamania"

Stop four of our U.S. campaign roadtrip takes us across the bay from San Francisco, to the Ashby market. It’s on the border between preominantly black Oakland, California and the liberal bastion of Berkeley. Reporter Andrew Stelzer says you can measure excitement in the African-American community by the merchandizing of Obamamania.

Andrew Stelzer is an award winning radio and print journalist, currently working as a producer at the National Radio Project in Oakland, California. Andrew’s radio work has been featured on BBC’s The World, Latino USA, Free Speech Radio News, and Radio France International; his articles have appeared in E Magazine, In These Times, The New Standard News, The St. Petersburg Times, and others. Andrew previously ran the youth radio program at KBOO radio in Portland, OR, and has conducted radio production trainings in Algeria; Bolivia; Jordan; Mexico; and throughout the United States.
